Default Suspension lift!!! Which one?

hey guys. new member here. Have had a Ram since my 03, got on 09 in Oct of 08. Out in Iraq right now but will be getting home soon and want to put a lift on my truck. I have done research and stuff, but you always find the same things. 5 people recommend a certain brand or lift, and another 5 shoot it down. So i was wanting to get personal preference from those that have them. i know Dodge finally came out with a lift that is 4", but isnt really a suspension lift. is that going to make the front end super sensitive to bumps? and have also looked at ProComp, BDS a little bit, etc. Was wanting to know if there were ones better than others, or if there is really a difference between one or another. any help would be great. thanks!

I work for one of the above mentioned companies... I'm here as an enthusiast, because I own one of these trucks, drive it every day, and like everyone else here - had to change some stuff up on it. I'm not going to flat out say, 'buy our stuff' - because the company I work for is not a paying vendor on here. But I will give you some hints on what to look for when shopping around.

Forums are a good place to start - especially since you are overseas currently (by the way - thanks for doing what you do). When you get back to the States, stop into some offroad shops and see what they recommend. These are the guys that make a living off of it, install it on a daily basis, and can steer you in the best direction.

As far as what goes into a lift kit - make sure the main plates in the crossmembers are 1/4" thick. You'll want some sort of differential skid plate if you plan on doing any offroad stuff. The most important thing is that the 09's have to have some sort of relocation of the rear control arm(s)... if you don't relocate the arm, when you put it in reverse the pinion goes down a lot, especially under heavy loads.

Excuse me? of course it is a suspension lift, its not a body lift or spacers. The ride is pretty much unaffected, the *** end is a little stiffer which is an improvement over stock.

my mistake then. from what i thought i saw, was that the front was just torsion keys or spacers. i had put torsion keys on my 03 and it just made the front suck when i hit bumps. i thought it was the same thing.

-The Mopar kit is the same as the Superlift and it is a 4" suspension lift. If you order the Superlift for a TRX4 you must purchase the additional parts, the Mopar kit is not supposed to be installed on a TRX4

- The Procomp kit is a 6" suspension lift and will not fit the TRX4 model. Procomp is a good company and i have had their products on my truck before. Not the best, but good. The Stage 1 is cheaper as it utilizes stock shocks, the Stage 3 comes with coil-overs for the front and adjustables for the rear...nice

- BDS is by far my favorite and i could challenge you to find a bad opinion about their kits. They fit the TRX4 and other 4wd models, they are extremely durable and tested extensively. A big factor is their no questions lifetime warranty, that's saying something. Its a little bit pricier than the Superlift and Stage 1 ProComp but the same range as Procomp Stage 2. You pay what you get for, crossmembers are plenty thick and you get skid plates. I have run BDS kits and love them.

jball,

can you get a little deeper into the mopar 4", do you think it's a good kit or not? pros/cons of the kit in your opinion and expertise?

I'm looking to buy one to keep the lifetime warranty, otherwise I'd buy the procomp stage 2.

thx.

imho its probably worth it to get the mopar kit in all reality. just because of the fact you can keep the lifetime warranty. honestly, it wouldnt be garbage if it was brought on to be a mopar part. im not saying everything mopar is GREAT. just if it was pure ****, they wouldnt give you lifetime warranty etc...
