Default Add steering stabilizer shock?

anyway to add a steering stabilizer shock to my truck. Dont like the bump steer i get when going over bumps. Its seems like the power steering a little to twitchy or overcompensated. might just be the stock 20's wheels and tires. How are the 4x4 setup?

I don't think you'll be able to find one to fit a stock height truck. Lifted trucks are another story, there are more places to bolt the brackets and lots more room for the cylinders.

You really shouldn't need one on a stock truck anyhow, they are more often than not considered a 'bandaid' to help mask the problem of an out of round tire, bent rim, improper alignment, etc. If you are running 37's I can see them being necessary, but not with the stock setup.

yeah, i was gonna say. i dont know where you are driving your truck. but overall mine handles like a CAR . especially with the coils/shocks in back now. def. the best handling, ride quality pickup i have ever rode in.

I'd have it looked at. I've got a 2wd SLT CrewCab (17's) and it drives like a cadillac, not quite like a lexus, but still pretty good

My 4x4 drives like an expensive Europeon Car, I know if I were to put some real tires and real aftermarket suspension parts it might either get better or start feeling like a truck. Funny you have to spend money on these pickups to make them ride like a pickup.

Default Steering issue

Sorry I had to participate when I saw this, I am new to this site and ilandaze2 you seem to have the same comment or question that I have. I just purchased an 09 crew cab 1500 2wd.. My steering seems a little disconnect and keeps you a little busy when driving. I have 20 in. factory tires and shocks.

What is the right approach when you want to tighten the steering...is it quality shocks, tires, or some other component that needs looking into. I can live with this for now but driving at night becomes more of a concern. Thank you.

There is no one answer to this, it depends on what is wrong with your particular truck. Could be tire balance, bad tierod end, bad steering box or any one of a dozen other pieces of the steering and front suspension.

It's a new truck, take it back in and have them diagnose it.

Something is wrong with your truck because my wife drives our truck the most. I never noticed having the drive this truck, like I said its a car with a truck body and I bet with better tires it would be even better. I drive 80 sometimes 90 mph on highway when I know I can get away with it...no difference. I think you guys that have to wrestle your truck either bought the low end model or have something for sure wrong or....I have seen this. Is it the first time you drove a truck? Sometimes people don't realize the difference. This model especially.
Good luck I would say if you are fighting it even a bit there is a bad valve in your rack or a bad tire. Try rotation first if it goes away you know that you have a bad tire. After that, actually the dealer should have tried that first, then balance, then alignment, but I think in the US cuz of lemon law they probably do all at once, here we dont have the lemon law but there is a method of grievance or something thru customer service, I know of 2 people that got their vehicle purchased back from them for what they paid so far except interest. They say it's not their fault you don't have cash. Just what I was told. I think a certain year all the Dakota R/T's miss represented their towing or hauling capacity and people had a choice of returning it or keeping it...must have been something as a good reason to want people to keep it or this could have been BS since the person the info came from was a drunken supervisor who wrecked his truck a few times and I think he finally totalled it and came and lied to everyone when he didn't have it anymore and said they bought it back from him because of the misrepresentation, and yet he never drove a car in there again, DUI was the problem but still out on the truck, only heard of one other who got this dakota R/T bought back for the sticker problem. Sorry I ramble.
