Default PAINT Ram 1500

So, I took my 2009 ram 1500 ST to MAACO to get my upper bumper cover (front) to get painted and they didn't want to do it. They said that the paint would chip and that they were not willing to do it. So, my question is. Is it paintable?

Also I really want to paint my fascia white, so, whats the part number for a primered fascia?

Thanks

It could be painted.

As for the "fascia" if you mean grill they come painted, just give the dealer your paint code, or better, VIN.

Everything can be painted. If you are talking about the chrome part you really have to do a lot of prep work to get the paint to stick good.

I did this exact paint job on my 2009 ST. The body shop I used told me it could be painted but that they would not warranty the paint because Dodge makes two different pieces for the front. One is paintable and the the other is for the ST and is not supposed to be painted. I contacted the dealer and they said the same thing. The upper piece was only $130 so I decided for the extra few bucks to get the right piece and have the work be warrantied. I think I paid around 500 - 600 for the entire paint job which included the new upper paint and prep for the front and rear bumper's. It was totally worth it because it totally changed the look of the truck. Here is a Pic.

So I tried do exactly this the other day and the dealers in my area are competely useless, at least the parts department is. They don't know anything about their parts. I asked them whether in was the same black plastic one and they said they did not know. So they had no idea.

Davis, Do you have a part number by any chance. And thanks for the help. And your truck looks great.

I'll call the parts department tomorrow and get it for you. It seems a lot of dealers out there haven't got a clue about these new trucks. Thanks for the compliment but it is someone else's truck now I upgraded to a 2010 4x4 crew cab, anyway I'll get it tomorrow
