My Sport was 2 months late being delivered, so didn't get much use this summer. I'm at about 1600 miles and was called today by the dealership for my first oil change. Shouldn't the original oil stay in there a bit longer with its break-in additives?
Or is it just plain old oil?
if there is ever a time to change oil more frequently it is during the break-in period.
@ 6000 miles i had my 4th change done, after that normal intervals.

I agree, my last three vehicles where new and I had them change the oil at 500 miles then at 2500 and then went 3000 miles. I use synthetic (Mobile 1) in my truck now and I still change it about every 3000 - 4000 miles. To me the oil can never be fresh enough. I also do the axle, transmission and transfer cases often as well.
Bet the oil companies love all you guys who change oil evey 3k miles, especially with syn.... I did have my first oil changed at 3K but it will only be for that first one. 5-6K mile changes from now on out, or whatever Dodge recommends. I know everyone has their own opinions on this, but oil has changed significantly for the better over the years, with longer oil change blessings from all car companies to keep warranties intact. If you're still at the every 3k oil change because that's how its always been done, I highly recommend doing some research on oil. Lots of good articles out there from automotive engineers and independant test labs.
