oil filter
You do what you want to do, but I wouldn't be using a Mopar filter.
Mopar likes to batch buy filters with who ever can make them the cheapest. That said, what might be a nice Wix filter this week, could end up being a Fram filter next week and you do not want to be throwing a Fram filter on anything except your intake air housing. Their oil filters have a nasty habit of falling to pieces over a short time passing the filtration media through your motor.

I currently use k&n,but was thinking of using the Mopar filter just because it is Mopar. Is Mopar really a bad filter?Just browsing around at wally world,I noticed that the Mopar filters only costed between $5-$7.....Must not be a good filter,to be that cheap.OIl and filter changes are the life of a vehicle, and I don't want to skimp with generic filters.K&N will probably remain my primary oil filter, and nothing but Valvoline oil!!!!!!!
No auto manufacturer makes their own filters anymore. Mopar filters have been made by Champion Laboratories, which also manufactures the K&N, Mobil 1, Royal Purple, Toyota TRD, SuperTech and numerous other brands. I have not read that Mopar ever purchased Honeywell or Allied-Signal made filters, but I have noticed that most, if not all, OEM filters made by Honeywell are based on the Tough Guard design not the Ultra Guard OCOD design. The current MO899 filter is made by Purolator. If you want to know more than you really need to know about filters, log onto the "Bob is the Oil Guy" site and browse the oil filter forum. Google "BITOG".
I personally like using Purolator filters, in fact, I'm using the Motorcraft FL820S filter on my Dodge hemi. Has many of the same components in the Pureone filter and the beta ratio is far better than any Wix filter. The kicker is the Motorcraft is more than a $1.00 cheaper than the MO899 at Walmart.

I'm sorry, but I don't see a DIY thread about oil filters at the top of the 4th generation page. Am I looking in the wrong place?
