Default Tallest on Factory 17's

I did try the search function, and most of the threads refer to factory 20's.

So forgive me if it has been beaten to death.

What it the tallest size tire that will fit on an 09 SLT factory 17 rim. I'm not sure, but I think they are only like 7.5 wide.

The tallest that I'm aware of for a 7" wheel is a 33" (255/80R17).

From what I have been told 285/70/17 will fit. Discount Tire will do a trial fit if you want to see if that size will fit.

It ain't the "how tall" since I've had 38s on 15" wheels before, but it's "how wide", the widest tire you should put on a 7.5" wide rim is 11.5"...

The stock wheels are 7" wide not 7.5"

Those would fit at 11.22" wide and 32.7 " tall. As hammer said, the limit is how wide, but you are limited by the offerings. And as far as I can see, 33"s is what is out there.

From what I remember, the 17" chrome clad steels are 8" and the aluminums are 7". But again, as Hammer said, the width of the tire is the concern. I belive that 285/70R17 will fit stock without a level kit as they're about the same as the stock 20s.

I have the aluminum 17" and the door label says they are 7". So I have learned that the chrome clad are 8" wide

I do have the aluminum brushed, and not the chrome. I also realize that the rim width was my issue, so I am to assume that the 285/70/17's WILL fit on a 7 rim?

RochesterRob, go to the tire rack website and do some research. I bet some folks would mount the 285/70R17 on a 7" wheel but the website calls for a 7.5" minimum.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....=yes&tab=Specs

Go to the website and pick a tire size and then click on the "specs" button, this will give you the info you need.
