$1300 rear power window....ouch!!!!!!!!!!!
I was doing some spring cleaning in the basement as well as in the yard. I put the o'l BBQ in the box of the truck to throw it out & without strapping it down drove to the front of the yard to load more stuff on. low & behold when I pressed the brake from going a speedy one mile per hour, SMASH, the damn BBQ broke the rear driver side window!!!
Talked to the local dealer & they told me it would cost 1300 bucks to replace the window as the side glass are not replaceable, only the middle one is & that would have been only $100!!
I can get my hands on a non power slider for $300, does anyone know if I can use this slider & swap the power components to it?
I currently made a temporary window consisting of a piece of tub surround painted black & is attached with black duct tape, ain't pretty but it will do til I figure out a way to fix it properly!
I think the thing that hurts more than knowing I can't afford the $1300 to fix it is knowing it was my own stupidity that broke it!!

You know, you don't HAVE to go through the dealer. Buddy of mine lost his job with NASA shutting down and after over a year now with no work, the bank foreclosed on his house. In moving his stuff out, he broke the rear window of his truck ('06 1500). His insurance covered it (with no deductible for auto glass on his policy) and the auto glass place came to his driveway and replaced it. The bill was $559.95 INSTALLED...

Oh ya, I forgot to include the fact that I have no glass coverage! The glass premium would have been $200 annually with a $300 deductible. A new windshield installed is $500. So I figured it wasn't worth keeping the coverage as after a year without a broken windshield there would be money in the bank to pay for one if needed.
Low & behold, I didn't realize the most expensive window was one of the smallest!!
Live & learn I guess, just wish there was a cheaper fix though!
It's looking like my new big screen T.V is put on hold for awhile! lol

My dealer said he looked into an aftermarket one & he said it was more than the OEM....more than $1300!!! Maybe I should look into getting one from the U.S then, might be a lot cheaper than here in Canada!
I did text the guy with the '06 to ask what brand it was, I was going to post it, but when he got back to me with it, I got on their website and they only make up to the '08, no fourth Gen. Was $500 and change thru their webisite though...
