Cool Bent tailgate??

The other day I put my tailgate down and happened to notice that it appears that only one cable is holding the tailgate up. The other side is way, way loose. Took it to the dealer and they said it was normal?????. I have never put any kind of load on the tailgate so that's not the problem. If I sit way on the corner of the tailgate then the cable will catch and hold the tailgate. Bent tailgate??

If your gaps look ok when closed, no it is not bent.

Also make sure it is on the truck correctly. It is easy to pull the gate off, maybe it is not fully on the truck.

Maybe they just didn't swag the cable ends on properly. One cable might just be a tad longer than the other cable. I just checked and mine are both tight. (no slack when down)
Can you take the two cables off and compare? Sometimes the cables can slip in the ends too if they did not swag them tight enough.

Mine has one loose one as well and it is still loose if I stand on the tailgate so I'm not too worried about it.

Hey. Maybe that is why some of the Rams lean to one side. The cable is holding the other side up.

Same issue but Ihave a ram on one side to slow the tailgate down so that might be my issue. It closes and opens nicely, with 2 fingers and fit is perfect.
