Default 3.55-4.10 Swap Qs

Hello guys and gals new member here, great site with good info, been a Mopar owner, racer etc etc, My question i have a 2011 Ram 1500 SLT reg cab short bed with 4.7 and im thinking bout going to a 4.10 gear, i have 17in wheels and automatic tranny and it 2wd, i live where there are many hills and dont do much freeway or highway driving but i like the feel of instant response with lite throttle usage, i had a 03 reg cab w/a hemi and did a 3.55- 390 gear swap myself and not much difference that i could feel so im wondering how did you like the 355-410 swap?? I live around the corner from Randys ring and pinion so id let them do the install along with a diff swap to a posi unit of some sort, i dont plan on installing larger tires either and i may be doing some trailer pulling later on.

had an 04 reg cab 4x2 hemi and the difference between 4.10 and 3.55 was huge. Hurt a little on gas especially on the highway

It would be a nice upgrade without much impact on mpg with 2 od's. Most of the 3rd gen Ram guys go 4.56 with 33" tires and 20" rims.

Default update

Went to Randys Ring and Pinion to do the diff and 4.10 install, Well the new 9.25s have a different offset on the diff so what they had wouldnt interchange so next plan was to leave stock diff and change the gear well guess what? the hole diam in the stock diff is much larger and the bolt pattern is moved outward so that didnt happen, they said it will be a lil while when the gear manufactors redesign tooling and drill a new pattern for the gears and redesign a new diff, i was the first they said to bring in a new Ram and discover the new changes.

I just went with a local guy in June who has a 2010 Ram QC 4x4 Hemi to my local shop, they did front and rears with 4.56 Genuine's with a DTT and had NO problem whatsoever. My biggest problem was keeping the guy "off it" till they were broken in.

I play in a friday night golf league tonight and the service manager of my local dealership plays in it. I'll have to ask him about any changes to the AAM 9.25" rear axles for 2011 trucks. I've not heard of it...

Ya why didnt Dodge just leave it alone lol, Guys at Randys said it wont take long to get the changes made as the 9.25s are a popular rear, the Jeeps 9.25s evidently had sum changes as well from what they told me.

The 9.25 is not that popular apparently... nobody makes a command locker for it...
