Default lumbar power broken in drivers seat.

Well if your power lumbar stops working I know whats broke, dam plastic gears, took my seat apart, and along with finding the damage the service department did to some of the plastic trim on the seat I removed the lumbar motor and opened it up and found the gears were shattered.

Have a question for any dodge techs (and I probably know the answer is no) do they sell the gears for the motor seperate anywhere? I know the unit is 82 dollars online. Just a thought, taking the seat apart wasnt that bad only 25 minutes total and went back together fine, beats paying the stealer 300 for labor only.

LOL, I am not a tech, but I know what the answer will be.... No.

You may be able to epoxy them back together.

My lumbar went out also, where did you find the part for $82, my dealer said i need to replace the entire seat bottom for $612 in parts alone. I assume the motor has to be available by itself, right?

I believe its $82 for the lumbar motor assembly. Comes complete with the gears just like a windshield motor does.
Ask your dealer where they get their crack from, cause thats what they`re smokin if they want $612 bucks to fix it..!

Another fine example of either an idiot engineer, or a way to cheapen out on Rams part. I for one do not think there is enough lumbar in those seats any way. I was going to pull my seat and add in some extra foam down behind my lower back. My lumbar is adjusted out as far as it goes and it is still uncomfortable on long rides. Say 100 miles or longer. By then my back starts to hurt. Never had that happen in my old F150, work beater.

I think i am going to try to swap with the passenger motor and see if i can rebuild it, and if not, just replace that one whenever i get to it.

Online dodge oem parts or dodge parts people, motor is located in seat back, tell your dealer he's full of s~€! Part is seat specific. Sucks you can't buy the gears or find who makes this part for dodge.

Ramulak, LOL )), get another ford or some oxy. , you could definitely add some foam or custom the set up

I realize they build the truck for the average sized human but as I get older I slump more down in the seat. Maybe I am getting the old person thing going....But my back really does start to get uncomfortable and I have to shove one of those cheap foam back pillows they sell at Pep Boys or NAPA.
I think because my Old F-150 has springs in the back rather than foam it keeps the seat back more bowed out thus giving more lumbar...Now this is a 1980 F truck. They just don't make seats like that any more....
BTW My 2006 Ram 2500 lumbar thing broke as well. I never fixed it and luckily it broke fully adjusted out, so I just left it.....

May be a dumb question, but were there any tricks to getting the seat cover off to look at the motor? I haven't looked at it at all yet, but it seems to maybe be a little intimidating.
