Default Help!! warranty fix gone bad!!!!!

Here's the deal took my 09 (only has 14k on the ticker) to the dealer for the first time last week to get both recalls done and couple other minor issues. Dealer had told me all RRT's and TSB's had been taken away for my truck for some reason. I had a ticking noise from the motor on start up so I asked that they check it out. Told service dept about seeing a TSB or RRT about manifold bolts possibly causing it. They kept the truck over night and did like 4 things. Next day they tell me they r going to replace manifold bolts. Take the truck back couple days later and they replace bolts 7 and 8. I pick the thing up after work Friday and on the way home heard and awful ticking noise from the right side of the motor. Mind u this noise is much worse than the one they were supposed to fix. Turned around and took service advisor for a ride. She said she thinks she heard the ticking once but after the truck warmed up no noise. Went home and restarted the truck later that evening same noise. WTF! It is a ticking noise coming from the right side of the motor that only is there when engine is cool and when you are pressing on the accelerator. Once you let off the gas or the engine warms up no noise. Sorry post is soo long but does anyone have any ideas?

When the engine warms up the gasket expands, so the ticking goes away. If it ticks cold, you still have a problem.

Orange,

If you PM me your VIN I will check on what TSB's and RRT's exist for the condition you describe. If the problem was not fixed the first time then they either need to fix it right or I would recommend taking it to a different dealer.

If you send me your VIN I will see what I can do.

The RRT's and TSB's are[should] be 36,000 or 36 months . My 09 had more than 36,000 the 1st yr ... The service writer work with me on these through the mileage .... Go to another dealer .

Did they just do the bolts or the manifold too? They should have done both. If they just slapped some new bolts in and no new gaskets or anything then that was dumb.

Yep, the leak will burn a path thru the manifold and or gasket.

Its possable a manifold issue. But I've been reading two forums almost two years and I can't remember a manifold or a gasket being replaced. Does these Hemis even have a gasket? lots of exhaust manifolds do not have one where manifold meets the head. You need to take it back, leave it overnight if needed and then cold engine you and tech, service writer see what your noise is.

Thanks for the posts. Yes they supposedly replaced gasket and #7 and #8 bolts. I have thought about going to another dealer for service but then I have to go about 30 miles away for it and Im sure in this case they are not going to want to fix another dealerships mistake. I spoke with my boss who is a mopar fanatic and he listened to it and thought it was infact coming from the manifold. He also said it is common practice when replacing manifold gaskets or bolts that you heat up the motor then cool it and retighten the bolts to compensate for expand and contract. That obviously wasn't done. And yes they said they would gladly do any TSB's and RRT's but mysteriously they do not show up for my truck now even though they did a couple of months ago. Service dept says Chrysler took them all away even for new trucks on their lot, so I don't know what is up with that.

I don't understand that...strange. I know there were a slew of RRTs that were flashes, then a bunch of dealers were told they were high on a certain group of labor ops....which is grouped with flashes....Chrysler in many ways is even dumber than they ever were.
