Default Calling all emergency personnel

I need some help. I recently bought a 2009 Ram SLT. I am a volunteer firefighter and decided to put all undercover/hideway LEDs in the truck. I have TIR4s in the grill and a dash light on the upper part of the windshield. For the back I have a slimlighter in the back window of the cap. I also have LEDs in the headlights/taillights/reverse lights. My problem is for the LEDs in the headlights, I am afraid it won't clear intersections that well. I have these LEDs...http://www.galls.com/style-GR273-gen...wo-head-system

I have red in there now. Should I go clear and put the reds somewhere else or do you think the red will be ok? Of course time will tell once I start running some calls with it but I want people's opinions. Also if someone can instruct me how to load video I can load a couple videos of the set up. Thanks for all the help in advance.

Why don't you just put a full LED light bar on the roof? Did you install a siren too? If your going through intersections you should def have a siren.

x2 on the siren. I have dual sirens and my truck lights up like Christmas with red, blue and white led's. The colored ones in the headlights seem to be drowned out some by the whites. My experience whites are brighter. I still stop at intersections, it does not matter how loud and bright you are if other motorists are not paying attention.

I have galls street thunder siren with the siren mounted right behind the grill. It is plenty loud but as you know drivers are still totally clueless when you are rolling code 3. You can be as lit up as a Christmas tree and you still won't be seen. I don't want to go the lightbar route anymore. I had one on the 01 ram and decided I really wanted the stealthiness of undercover. I think I will
eventually switch to clear LEDs in the headlights but wanted to hear some opinions first. Thanks guys and stay safe out there!

I would mount them in the corner lenses if you have the clearance. The headlights will drown out the LEDs and the angle will not be enough for intersection clearance. The corners are the way to go. The other option of the mount a set of LEDs on the side mirrors, they work almost better than anything else. And believe me, after 23 years, I have tried lights in almost every configuration.

And a word of advice. You can mount every light in the world on your vehicle and some BOZO with his head up his kester will still not see you. Be careful! By displaying lights and a any other emergency equipment you're only asking for the right of way at an intersection, no emergency vehicle can just take it. If you crash and it's later found you didn't exercise due dilligence, they will draw and quarter you, right before they roast you alive.

I decided to bite the bullet and spend the extra money and put clears in the headlights. I know it isn't an ideal place to mount some LEDs but given the housing that the headlight sits in, I couldn't see any other option. I am glad I made the switch though. They are 10x brighter. Not saying that I won't have to worry about traffic but I have run a couple calls now with them and I am still seeing the same issues that I had when I ran a lightbar on top...and that is inattentive drivers! Oh well. I'm happy with it If I can figure how to post a video I will. Thanks for everyone's input.

im no emergency personnel, but I do have a lot of experience in LEDs and lightbars.
I also don't really know whats legal or anything but I just bought a set of blue leds from HID extra to imitate DRLs on my truck. I know they are not the nice bright burn your eyes out Leds, But they are a waterproof strip with 3M tape on the back for mounting, Very easy stick them anywhere and they wont come off!. I have seen these kind of strips in like 2 meter long ones, all sorts of different colors. Its just my opinion, I don't know how you guys like things, but you can hide these strips in your grills wherever! I mounted mine just to see and hardly anyone noticed they were there until I turned them on.

Its just a suggestion but If you put these strips in your grill (blues reds whites whichever!) and on the side somewhere, just wired them directly to the battery, with a switch in the cab, also attached to a strobe relay to get them flickering at random it might draw some more attention.
I have installed many of these strips, and every time it definitely draws my eye when I see them. They are just lit steady, I could not imagine if you had several strips (in hidden locations) Light up and go at random. I will say too tho that I have seen lots of people that are just loons at noticing whats happening around them. I can't imagine what you guys run into!

This is what I have, they are noticeable in the daylight, and I definitively get some looks.

Hi-Power Strobes on all 4 corners of the sidemarker lights...! (Color - YOUR choice..!)
Side strobes will definatly get you more noticed in an intersection and safely...!!!!
Oncoming traffic will ALWAYS see you ALOT better than side traffic.
Thats why i say strobe the sidemarkers, and run a super fast pulsating blink...!
Pricey, yes, but can you really put a price on life..? No..! Be smart & Be safe..!

Those are pretty slick! Can you provide a website link as to where you got those please?
