Default heavy duty air bags on half ton

I already installed the airlift bags on the truck but those only lasted 3 weeks so I'm lokking for something more heavy duty that doesn't sit inside the springs. Wondering if anyone out there mounted some with brackets and what not.

Maybe you should look at the Timbren SES rubber springs. I'm considering these myself.

I'm curious as to why they only lasted that long...what make and model were they?

They only lasted that long because I have a procomp 6" lift, and compared to stock the base of the coil spring is atleast 1 1/2" higher. Therefore the airbag was sitting way tighter than it should have been. Everything empty my truck's rearend was jacked up with 5 psi so, and with the quad on the atv deck and camper hooked up going 4000 kms across canada it was too much the airbag got pinched on the spring. I will see if I can get a shorter bag for it but for now I wanna see if there's alternatives.

That makes perfect sense now, I was getting curious. I would be curious to see if they build a bag for someone with a lift...IF not im sure you might be able to whip up a spacer? Or im sure there is SOMETHING out there...

i have the procomp 6" lift with airlift 1000 and i have had them in now for a couple years with no problems. i even keep like 45 psi in them all the time cause i like the way the truck rides better. i haul my quad in it all the time and load it with a few hundred pounds of tools. no issues.

I havent made no 4000km trip but i have pulled the 32' camper with no issues locally here to all the surrounding lakes

What kind of kit do you have from airlift. I know they had a kit before with shorter bags and like 2" spacer not sure if that's what you have. I have the updated version with a longer air bag and shorter spacer. Also I'm not sure how your bags sits at the base of the spring cause my lift kit (I'm sure yours is the same) has a tube the width of the spring inside diameter that sticks up like 1" so the spring doesn't slide off type of thing. I had to make a slotted spacer that would sit on top of that tube so the bag would not get cut,but with all the weight the bag still found a way to mushroom around the spacer and get pinched. Ill take some pictures when I'm back at home to show what I mean. I might have to make a little bit wider spacer that would not let the bag get around the spacer and a bit shorter bag.

Other than that I loved the kit, when I had my 800 lbs quad in the box my truck would not bulge and would ride like stock, without them my truck looks like a *****. Also I got the onboard compressor with gauge installed so I gotta get something going

Those sound decent the only thing you can't adjust on the fly for ride quality. They would be nice to add for stiffness at even greater loads as long as they don't replace the springs.

I would have to say my kit is the first design. the block for the top is pretty thick. i havent gone out to look at it yet. Yeah i love when the quad is in the back and there is no sag at all. X2 on that the truck looked like a ***** haha. I dont know about the tube that sticks up. its been a couple years since i even seen that part of the truck.

When installed properly the Timbrens do not engage the axle and there is no difference in ride quality. There should be about 1 to 1 1/2 inch gap between the Timbren and axle unloaded. Once you load the truck the Timbren rests on the axle and supports the load and keeps the rear from sagging. Timbrens do not replace the springs.
