Default AC Vents

I have 2009 crew cab and the AC will only blow out through the floor vents. It will start blowing at the dash and then start making a poping sound and start blowing out at the floor. What is the the problem and how much do you think it will cost to get it fixed?

There was a safety recall - K17- for this. Should do the same when in defrost mode. Mine was in once for the recall notice, then again when the actuator went bad and they replaced it that time and did the reflash again..

Blublzr,

Below is a copy of the recall if that is indeed your issue.

Customer Satisfaction Notification K17

Reprogram HVAC Control Head and Inspect/Replace
Actuators
2009-2010 (DS) Ram Truck (1500 series)
2010 (DJ) Ram Truck (2500 series)
2010 (D2) Ram Truck (3500 series)
NOTE: This recall applies only to the above vehicles built through May 22, 2010
(MDH 052220).
The HVAC mode door actuator gears on about 225,000 of the above vehicles may
break and result in the inability to fully control the HVAC functions.
All involved vehicles must have updated HVAC control head software installed
and the mode door actuators must be tested and replaced as required.

I just had to replace an actuator. $37 from the dealer. Have to take apart the whole center section of the dash.

Thanks to all! I'm going to have the dealer change the oil (Have Coupon 4 oil changes for $60) and will see if they can make the repair as part of the recall. If not maybe it want brake the bank to have them replace actuator.

Mine was fixed under the recall, I had no problems with the a/c before hand either as my truck was only a few months old.

Mine was fixed soon after the recall came out - it had already broken the part which they replaced. It was a pretty long service appointment so plan on leaving it for the dat.

My 2009 CC just started doing the same thing a couple of days ago. I had the dealer do the recall check/inspection a while back when this notice first came out, now my truck has 40K miles and is out side of the 3/36K warranty. Am I still covered under the recall? If not how much will the repair cost?

RGV,

If your vehicle has a recall on it then it will be repaired even if you are out of warranty.
