Default K&N CAI or???

Hey everyone new to the forum! Just got a 2010 1500 with the 5.7 and I want to get a CAI intake for it. I had a 2005 1500 with the 5.7 and I put on a K&n CAI kit and it made a clicking sound the resonated through the pipe. I guess this was a common problem for that unit. I saw a couple posts on different brands of intakes but nothing really about negatives or down sides to each one.

Any help would be great!
Thanks!!

I do not have a CAI or even an aftermarket filter for that matter, but from all i've read, your best bet is to stay stock. Unless you want that little bit of a growl under the hood under heavy throttle, but peronnaly for the money I would just invest in a good exhaust system.

As mentioned if want a different sound go for it, other than than that they offer no benefit. That's not just my opinion but from many acquaintances who have put them in their trucks and saw no performance gains or anything else. If you want a reusable air cleaner a K&N drop in will do the same thing for less money.

I didn't feel any improvement with the CAI. Quite a few folks say the factory intake system is just fine. Wish I would've just done the exhaust alone and saved sopme nickels.

Thanks for the advice everyone! Maybe I'll go with a cat back exhaust instead.

i would say definatly go K&N, but make sure you do a full 'air flow' system to gain your maximum performance, ( intake & exhaust ), also i would recomend getting a GFchip, which is about $75 w/ shipping, basically has two wires that splice into your Air Intake Sensor gave me about a 67hp boost, which is pretty good considering it advertises for a +60hp boost!
