Default Whats it take to convert a 4th gen to a 5th gen ram?

I know on here the 2013+ are considered 4th gens, but according to Ram, its 5th gen. I guess time will tell? haha.

Anyway, when I found out the 5th gens did something crazy and kept the same general body shape even with frame redesign, I realized it would be pretty easy to make a 4th gen look like a 5th gen.

I know I'm not the only person on here but I didn't have much luck with search.

Is it possible to swap in 5th gen parts onto the 4th gen or are they different enough to cause mounting issues? I know there were aerodynamic changes to the front end but if headlights and the such are compatible, maybe other parts are as well.

I know the headlights are an easy swap- just a different wiring kit.
I know the grille is new, is that a direct swap?
The taillights look different, or is that only the laramie? Are they a direct swap?
Chrome mirrors look like part of the big horn package?
Any other noticable differences? I haven't been able to tell except tow hooks look standard now (already added)

IMO the only thing worth swapping would be the 8spd tranny.

Good luck with that one.

I thought everyone would be trying to do this and was thoroughly surprised more people werent already on it when i searched!

Get the 2013-2017 look for under a grand? seems like a gift from god literally. I was so scared id regret buying a 2011 because it would look outdated in 2013 and id have to buy a whole new one, but to my dismay i can keep the truck which is great because I love it!!! especially the projectors. All my other regularly-driven cars since '09 have projectors and even the quad headlights kind of stink on the ram. It was my only complaint, and this fixes it!

but i guess im the only one who feels like that!! haha good thing theres plenty of room in this world to be different!

if anyone has any insight or info on differences or swapping (even if you don't think its worth it!), Im very interested in that information though!

I think most like the way their 09-12 RAMs look now (I for one do). SO I don't seem many, if any people doing this.

The 3rd Gens had a refresh during their run, and they're all still considered 3rd Gens. While there are a lot of new gadgets on the 2013, I don't think it qualifies as a whole new generation.

As for updating the look of my 2009, some parts I'm interested in, others not. I'd love to swap over to the HIDs, but everything else hasn't really sparked enough of my interest to throw down that kind of cash for updating (or just buying a new truck). The air suspension is cool and all, but just seems too much of a gamble. Ask a Lincoln Navigator person how much the air ride on it costs to fix, and they fail like the seasons change.

Don;t do it. in a just a few short weeks the world will end according to the Mayans, and you will have wasted your money.

Sat in a 2013 at the state fair and hated the touched up dash. Reminded me of the early 3rd gen dashes, seemed like a big step backwards for me.
