Default 34,000 miles and hemi tick has gotten worse than ever

so about a month ago i noticed my "hemi tick" was worse than ever, especially on start up. when I first start the truck it actually sounds like the lifter needs serious adjustment.

anyone else have this problem? I'm going to change the oil as soon as I get a chance this week and see if that helps. I'm still a little concerned, as its louder than the typical tick

Very common problem mine did the same thing, turns out it was broken exhaust manifold bolts.

just checking back in. problem seems even worse. sounds just like a bad lifter I had on the crate motor I put in my old nova. its coming from the driverside. I'm afraid to go to the dealership as I have had nothing but bad experiences at dealerships.

by the way, not the oil, changed it twice

Are you sure it's a lifter? (Yes, some HEMI'S have problems with the lifter's, causing a ticking noise.) But alot of the times it's a broken exhaust manifold bolt, causing a ticking noise. See below video. This is a broken manifold bolt. Sound just like a lifter tick.

Heyyyyy mdRam43... how ya doin bro, longtime no hear from ya...

Anyhow, just some food for thought buddy....
if you notice the engine start to run rougher as the noise gets louder, likely valvetrain componets going away. (doughtful, BUT possible)
If the engine runs very good, and no noticable loss of power, likely might be like mezzer suggests, broken exhaust bolt(s)

Go get you a stethoscope from a autoparts supply place... see if you can pin down exactly where the noise is located.

Dealers... ohhhh boyyyy, yeah i`m with ya on that one brother,
most stealership`s couldn`t pour **** out of a boot EVEN if the instructions were written on the heels.
You`ll be ALOT better off if YOU can diagnois it yourself BEFORE you`re forced to go see the stealership idiot`s.
No sense in paying for "their" ignorance.

My 2009 developed a loud ticking sound which was difficult for me to diagnose--listened from above the engine, under the engine...couldn't pinpoint it. Took it to dealer and it turns out one of the hydraulic lifters was shot. This in turn had started to cause damage to a valve. My truck had 110,000 km at the time and was out of warranty (Canadian truck). I managed to get dealer and Chyrsler Canada to provide "goodwill" coverage and repair went from original estimate of $2100.00 to my actual out of pocket cost of $300.00. Dealer was very good with original diagnosis--determined the problem by sound and confirmed upon disassembly.

exhaust manifold leak 100%. It's sputtery and inconsistent. If you heard my Hemi Tick, the 2 sounds aren't even comparable. Valvetrain clack is consitent and much more solid sounding.

Start squirting some p-lube on those studs. "squirt and drive" a couple of times and that'll loosen them right up.

Exhaust manifold bolts or gasket.
