Default 2013 ambient temperature sensor

Hi. Newbie to forum. Have 2013 Longhorn and temp sensor very erratic. Sometimes doesn't move for days. Took to dealer and he tells me there may be a flash upgrade available in 3 to 4 months. WTF? What's with Chrysler? Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue and getting the same runaround.

Yes I had the same discussion with my dealer after they changed the sensor and it didn't help at all. waiting on a flash.

Thanks. Makes me feel a bit better knowing I'm not the only one. Got a $58000 truck and there's a 4 month wait for an update to fix something??? Sure glad it wasn't something that disabled the truck, period! Traded my 2009 GMC with 51000 km on this but having second thoughts about that now. Will be phoning someone to vent about this at Chrysler on Monday.

Longhorn,

Welcome to the Dodge forum and congratulations on your new purchase! I'm sorry to hear about your concerns with the ambient temperature sensor. Is it really cold outside right now where you are from and will the temperature sometimes turn off? If you'd like me to look into this for you, PM me your VIN# and the name of your servicing dealer. I'd be happy to look into this for you.

My 2013 Longhorn does the same thing. It will stay on same temperature all day. I had to disable the heated seats and steering wheel on remote start up because when I start my truck up later in the day when temp is up to 62 degrees, the truck temp still has 28 degrees on it and heated seats and steering wheel comes on. Took it to the dealer and they reset it but, it hasn't worked.

Okay. Got the sensor changed today. Not sure if this will correct the problem. Interestingly enough, I was surprised to learn that the sensor in the 2013 is located in the drivers mirror. Took about 10 min to change it. Will post update if this cured it. Perhaps, like helijamal says, it will need to have a flash update. Have also not heard anything back from The Top Care Specialist at Chrysler Canada, even though I did PM her my VIN # and dealer name.

Had my truck one week, took it in to fix a couple of problems, got it back 3 weeks later, NOT good service!! They fixed all the problems but this one!! While they did replace the temp sensor, my outside temp still reads 5-10 degrees low below 40 degrees. Took it back, but they just sit it outside over night and say it reads with in 2 degrees of the other cars parked there (temp about 40, wasn’t a cold night). It was pouring rain yesterday, not even rain/snow mix and the gauge read 32!! I drive in the mountains a lot and 32 is a critical temp, I do not want it to be 5 - 10 degrees low!! One would think they'd have a calibration adjustment somewhere!! Not sure what to do next??

I'm having similar issue, but it seems to correct itself sometimes. Seems to be correct temperature when I first start in morning but when I get back in the truck later in the day, it will stay at that same morning temp reading. I'll bring to dealer and see what happens and post up if it's anything substantial.

This is exactly what mine does. Don't really want to carry it to the dealer, they don't know their a$$ from a hole in the ground.
