Default Key fob's again

Hi All:
It has been a while, but my doors will not unlock on demand. Had the truck (2009) in half a dozen times and fixed for a while. Now BOTH fobs will not work all the time. Took it to the dealer and he( The owners son) says the WCM (Wireless control module) is bad. Now I have the "Good" extended warranty that covers the replacement, BUT it seems Both my fobs are bad and need to be replaced because they can't be reprogramed to the new module. These are not covered under warranty and cost $175 each.

Anyone heard of both modules going bad, and not being programmable, at the same time.

$175 - each? Yeah... NO. For that kinda 'change', go aftermarket and with a 2-way long distance remote start.

Jim,

I responded to your PM on this but I agree with the above poster. If you don't have remote start, now would be a good time to get it as it comes with 2 new keys.

The FOBs....CAN be programmed to the new module. They are DEAD Wrong. The likelyhood of Both FOBs being bad is slim to none.

You don't program the fobs anyways - you program the truck to accept the fobs

Hi All:
Thanks to all for the replies.
First OLD JEEP can you provide a link that verifies your statement? I believe you, but will need proof to take the service writer. Maybe TNTech or Dodge cares could help with this info.

To be clear my fob's still work sometimes, it's the WCM that is bad. This is why I question trying to sell me $350 worth of fobs.

Thank You again for all your help

Brand new keyfobs with remote start - link to website

http://www.remotesandkeys.com/Produc...ductCode=5207A

Product info from website,

RAK P/N: 5207A
If you have a total of two working keys or fobiks that crank and run the engine then you can program your vehicle to accept additional fobiks yourself. If your don't have two working fobiks or keys you will need an automotive locksmith to program the vehicle to accept new remotes.
