Default Horrendous fuel milage (in my opinion) 2012 1500 SXT QC 5.7L 4x4

Ok, I have as mentioned a 2012 Ram 1500 SXT Quad Cab 4x4 with the 5.7 hemi. I'm getting horrifically bad gas mileage with it. Love the truck otherwise, but this is killing me. The truck is bone stock except for a tonneau cover and grille guard.

I'm getting an average of maybe 12mpg, my last fill was 10mpg all highway miles. I've tried taking it in to a couple of dealers and gotten brushed off because "that's not that bad" meanwhile I know people are getting way better than I am even after having mods done that's dropped their mileage. One person I followed on a 150 mile trip had intake/exhaust, lift, and 35" tires and they got about 16mpg, I got ~12.

Any suggestions? The best I've ever seen out of the 17 and that was with a 40mph tailwind. The truck has about 18,000 miles on it now.

Is this from your EVIC or hand calculated? May need to be reflashed. How often do you use the automatic starter?

hey i am from sask too and i get way better mileage than that but i have done a few mods. the biggest thing here is the ethanol gas combined with a winter formula gas to basically pour out the tailpipe. i commute to work and find better winter mileage using premium.(no ethanol and i don't know if they make a winter blend premium)

I've checked that and the filter only has ~3000 miles on it.

My numbers are using an app on my phone that tracks mileage. Evic is surprisingly close in my case.

I always use chevron 91 here in cali. A few extra dollars a tank goes a long way if you plan on keeping your truck for a while. ie cats, sensors, and emmision components.

Unless ther`s something bad wrong with your truck, sounds like driving habits may be your issue. Check your tire pressure, colder days you`ll lose pressure, this will cause the truck to drag and make the engine work harder. And if you`re running an aggressive treaded tire, they`ll rob you of mpg. How long are your first start-up`s... to let the truck warm up. That will suck your mpg`s away as well. Also concider winter blended fuels... that will suck your mpg`s away. Cold temp`s use more fuel. You`ve got a lot to concider during this time of year... ESPECIALLY living in CANADA...!!!

Have you tried using basic math and seeing what you get? The readout on the truck is a notorious liar and I can't imagine a phone app being all that accurate.
