New truck troubles...
Hello, I searched the forums with no success...
I just picked up my new 2014 Ram 1500 4x4 v6/8 speed SLT to replace my 2013 Ram (87k in 13 months) company car. Overall, I Ike it. Calm winds and no hills will see 22mpg avg. at 75+ mph. I've had the rig for 6 days now and have already put 1,600+ on the clock.
The first issue I noticed was when coming to a stop from normal speeds it feels as if the brake pedal gives then catches. Almost like it shifts up mid stop or the ABS kicks on for one pump. My wife remarked on that too and she never notices even major defects so i know its not just in my head. Any thoughts? Is this normal for this combo?
Also, I've noticed some "clunking" while downshifting. Something I don't hear in my 2012 1500 Hemi/6 speed setup and didn't hear in my old 2013 4.7/6 speed. Is this normal with the 8 speed? Thanks for any input or feedback.

thzpcs,
A process can be performed at your dealer if an issue presents itself with the shift quality. The "relearn" process is designed to maintain a high shift quality even as the transmission wears.
It is always beneficial to demonstrate a particular issue for the dealer. A quick test-drive will allow the Service Dept. to recognize what needs to be addressed. Be sure to speak with the Service Manager as well.

Yes, pretty much spot on. It also feels like the pedal "gives" a bit as you come to a stop.

Thanks. I guess I've remember of fuel sloshing and shifting like that in some older vehicles. Odd I didn't notice it in my old '13 which I believe had a similar sized fuel tank or my '12 with the optional oversized tank. I guess I'll just get used to. Luckily I live in the sticks with long spans of highway driving so braking is minimal. I appreciate the input!
In case anyone is interested in the 3.6/8 speed combo... Other than the brake issue I'm pleased with this engine and tranny combo. I have logged north of 2,200 miles in the last 1.5 weeks. Hasn't seemed to really want for more power, even with head winds and hills. Gets 19-22mpg going 70-80 mph. Still not a fan of the gear ****. Wouldn't want the 3.6 for much heavier towing, but that's why I have the Hemi in my other rig
. I had a new 2014 Silverado 1500 for a rental and I prefer the Ram to the Chevy hands down.
