Default Intermittent chime

2011 dodge ram 5.7 hemi Chimes intermittently every time I drive it, CEL blink on and then right back off. If you aren't looking at the gauges you don't notice it flash, rpms fluctuate up to a couple hundred rpms. CEL does not stay on or throw a code for obd II reader. The chime is driving me crazy!

The chime is likely because of the CEL coming on. Now, WHY it's coming on becomes the question. Given the RPM bounce though, I would suspect the TPPS...... maybe.....

I wish the CEL would just come on and throw a code!

If the CEL blinks due to a diagnostic event, even if it's not staying on, there should be a diagnostic code. Does your code reader only read current codes or will it also read historical and pending diagnostic codes?

Another thing to check is to make sure your battery cables are clean and tight. Maybe the chime, RPM stumble, and blink are happening due to a momentary power loss?

Current and historical codes not pending codes. I will check the battery cables!

Cables were my suggestion, also just a loose, broken or breaking wire. But actually sounds like a sensor, no? oxygen maybe? emissions? gl
