Weird noise that seems to be coming from rear end
So at approximately 80,000 miles in my 2012 1500 5.7 4X4 I noticed a noise coming from what seems to be my rear end I thought it sounded like a bearing going out so I lifted the truck and noticed some play in my drivers side rear tire so I had the axle bearing changed on the drivers side the noise continued so I brought it to another mechanic to verify that I was not crazy they said it was a bearing but it was the passenger side so I had both changed the next day when they opened it up they said it looked like the oil was dirty and old and said the first mechanic may not have changed it so they changed the passenger bearing and the noise continued and they then said it’s coming from my transfer case and gave me the name to the company they outsource there transmission problems to I brought my truck to them and they said it’s the axel bearing that is making the noise and I just had both of them changed I am completely lost because while the rear end was torn apart the check my chuck all gears are fine as well as all bearings just curious if anyone has had this issue or can guide me befor I say screw it and buy a whole new rear end and transfer case all input would be greatly appreciated the noise gets more high pitched as speed increases and more deep when I slow down as well as it’s not a consistent noise I gues the best way to describe the noise thru text would be ( woo woo woo woo) lol I know watching people imitate car noises is great but I would guess best described as a wabble
the pinion nut recall was for the AM axles in the 2009 and maybe some 2010s. I had the recall done on my old 2009 and it still failed and had the entire differential rebuilt along with the axle bearings. FCA had so many issues with the AM axles that they switched to the ZF for 2011 (I believe?) and had another recall but this time it was for the cover that had the fill plug in the wrong place.
