Default 2010 ram 4.7 swap 5.7 4th gen

Who's done a 4.7 to 5.7 swap on 4th Gen? I have a 2010 ram 1500 2wd 4.7 v8 3.55 rear end. I'm taking on the challenge of doing a 5.7 and 4.10 rear end swap and a 4x4 conversion, that is a different story. From a salvaged donor truck, the plan is to swap everything from drive shaft to the motor. My step brother is a diesel mechanic and is well equipped. I've heard the swap is not easy. A Hassel but doable with some custom welding. I'm doing this because i want to. I plan on buying another truck but a 2500 cummins turbo diesel. i want my 1500 to be my weekend warrior. Keep it until i die. turn it into a true classic in 25 or 50 years. Has anyone done this or am i the first in 10 years?

I applaud your ambition. But I'll also suggest that such an extreme modification will likely prevent it from ever becoming a "true classic" as typically originality makes for a more desirable classic.

You better have some excellent fab/welding skills for the 4x4 conversion....... The 1500's are IFS, even on the 4x4s, and I would bet money that none of the mounts you need are going to be there, and there is likely to be other 'stuff' that will have to be cut off to make room for it..... That is a pretty major undertaking. At least you won't be in a hurry though.

Most of the conversions that I have seen did a solid axle swap..... (and leaf spring front suspension as well.....)
