Does replacing the broken bolt require new gasket, or just replacing the broken bolt? I have the lifetime warranty but still pissed about having to pay the $100 deductible for this is it’s easy enough.
Anyone done it, and how hard of a job?

 

Gotta get the broken bolts out too...... It's actually cheaper to pay the 100 bucks.

 

its not a job for a backyarder imo. you need a welder to do it right. if its warranty paying the bill...the manifold should be checked for warpage and replaced or machined.

 

Think I’ll take the heat shield off and see if the bolt has enough left to grab with vice grips, otherwise I’ll bail.

 

pull the heatshield back and have a look...the bolt will either be broken flush with the manifold or flush with the cylinder head. if its flush with the manifold; you will have room to vise grip it out after the manifold is removed.

 

I'll be shocked if you can get one out with vice grips with the manifold still in place. There wont' be enough sticking out to grab onto. I had 2 that were broken of at the bolt head and one that was broken off at the cylinder head. Once the manifold is out of the way then you can grab the ones that are broken at the screw head. The ones broken at the cylinder head need to be welded (to a hex nut).

I completely agree with the comment above about the warped manifold. Make sure they check it. Both of mine were warped almost an 1/8 of an inch. I used a big belt sander on mine to flatten them back out.

Ended up at dealer for the repair. The claimed manifold was still true just new bolts and gasket. We’ll see how it holds up

 

for $100...its money well spent.
