ok so the problem is that the key will not turn at all as though the column is locked. upon pressing the button to shift there is a click from the steering column. battery is fully charged nothing else is wrong. please help me! it appears that the car does not know it is in park

 

ok here is what you dois just wigle the steering wheel while try too turn the key it should turn

 

i tried that as well for quite a while and nothing, if i disconnect the battery will it reset the tranny so it thinks it's in park again?

 

wait is the key stuck in the column or you cant get it started

 

Probably not. But you can try it. Resetting won't hurt anything.

 

when i put the key in it wont turn at all either way, i can pull it out again though so it's not stuck in the ignition.

 

hmm it might be the tumblers need replacing has anything happened to it recently accident? shove a screwdriver in there? im assuming the shifters in park if not take center console off and release the locking clip on shift interlock cable so you can shift it to park

 

thats been happening to my moms car (POS buick rendezvous) happened not 30 min ago lol.

Just turn wheel to one side and hold it there with some force and just turn the key back and forth kinda hard and it will kick over.

Not sure what makes it do that but just a little brute force will always prevail.

 

Or you might call a locksmith.

 

try your spare key. I had a key wear out before.
