is it possible to put a notebook HD into a desktop computer? i know they are different connections and everything but is there a way? aka connecting it via USB or something.

 

yes there is a way.. all you need is a small ide-adapter, which will plug into the end of the laptop HD.

the adapter will have both the power and end for a HDD cable.



i use one consistantly with my old laptop hdd.

 

Also if you get an SATA drive the connector is the same as the desktop SATA.

 

WHy not just buy an external hard drive. I have a 400gb external for homw use and an 80gb for traveling.

 

maybe he has a notebook HD from a laptop, and wanted to use it in his desktop (saves loads of money ). You can also buy an external enclosure (search newegg.com for 2.5" external enclosure) that will connect via usb. Depending on if you want it portable or not.

 

i need an extra HD for one of our computers. and i have an extra 20 gig Hitachi notebook drive and just wondering if there was a way to hook it up. Sinister where did u get yours at?
