My computer keep poping up with a warning blue screen...It states Its shuting down due to a problem that could be a danger to the computer... the screen counts slowly to 100 and restarts my computer.. The blue screen may not show again for a couple days or just an hour...??? how can I correct this...??? Doug
Well, lets try this by the book...
1.) Have you installed or updated ANY software lately??? (Microsoft or Windows Updates, Office Updates, Anti-Virus, video games, etc..)
2.) Have you installed or replaced any hardware lately??? (New modem, video card, cd/dvd burner, etc..)
3.) Have you had any problems as of late??? This could a program crashing or not working right, error messages, even a simple annoying warning.
Those are the basic questions I typically ask people when they have issues like this. You could potentially have a virus, a software error, or even a hardware failure.

I would run a complete scan of your computer with your antivirus program, then check for spyware. If that doesnt pan out, then if you have an idea about when this started, do a system restore from tthe XP system restore point nearest that day. It is possibe, as DR said, that a program may not have installed right.
Uninstall your last couple of rounds of Windows Updates. My mother's PC (running XP) has has similar problems. I told her to uninstall the last updates that she saw and it fixed it. Don't worry about the updates, they'll update again next time and will probably install correctly.

You can also try to use the system restore to go back to a previous date. THis is a very over looked option in XP.

Right click on my computer and select Manage. Then select Event Viewer and look at System events. Look for one with a little warning icon next to it and a time listed right around one of those blue screens. If your system was able to log information on the error it would be there and can sometimes be very helpful in diagnosing a problem.
