Default Wireless router and Vista

What is it that isn't allowing me to finish configuring the router? It gets to the point where it wants to restart the network and that is where it fails. It's a D-Link WBR-2310 wireless router using a separate D-Link DCM-202 cable modem. I checked with D-Link and there are no updates or patches for Vista. It says that it is compatable. I think not. I took my laptop that is running XP and it installed without issue. Any ideas?

Are you running the installation process as an Administrator? If you are not, this can cause complications.

AMEN!

I think I figured it out, or at least have found something to try.
Nix the install software and log onto the router's IP address and set it up from there.
****ing technology. [:@]

Yup, imagine what it will be like in 20 years. I bought my first real PC in 1992 and it was a piece of cake to set up and use. Every computer and OS I've had since then has been more complicated with more problems than the previous version. But it's just not computers. As manufacturers add more features to their products to catch the consumer's eye, everything from digital cameras to cell phones will keep us flipping thru the owner's manuals.....

Got it working. Imbedded deeeeeeep inside the hollows of the D-Link website is a newly released version of the configuration software. Downloaded it, set it up, and I'm wireless (incidentally, from my toilet ).

widespread problems with Vista,
note the that the most technilogically advanced university in the USA
MIT, is advising students not to use it.

Its hard to believe that Microsoft spent $6,000,000,000 developing Windows Vista, and they still cant get it even close to right the first time around...
