I don't know if that funtion is still there. Click on the WIndows button at the bottom left of your screen and type chkdsk in the "start seach" box. It will find the command you are looking for. Click on the hyperlink in the results window. When I run it, a DOS window appears for about 1/3 of a second and then disappears. I have no idea if it works. I tried to run chkdsk from a DOS prompt and it told me that I don't have sufficient priveledges to run it.

One way you can fix it is to go to your Uninstall Programs application and click on "Show Installed Updates". Sort the files by date and delete or uninstall the latest updates. When Windows performs another automatic update, it will include the files you took off and may very well download them properly. My mother's computer had the same problem after an auto update and I did this to it and it fixed it. She's running XP, but I think the files just didn't download properly the first time.

honestly if ur having trouble with corrupt files instead of chasing them I suggest doing a clean install of vista. sometimes when they install an os at the factory something goes wrong that will only manifest over time. this may be happening to you it happened to me on my brand new 2200 dollar gaming rig. clean installed vista updated drivers for everything and it's been oooo two months now with not a problem and it scores almost a ten k on three d mark.
