Hanson. your best option is to rip just the movie off of the disc. Then use autogk to convert it to avi. if the movie is over 90 minutes or has ac3 audio ( which most do) you should use the 2 cd setting for conversion. one cd will be 700 MB in size and two will be 1.37 GB in size after conversion. On the two disc option there will be an avi file that is the same size but one file instead of two, i would keep it in a folder to watch that movie until you want to delete it. Its alot more space friendly than just ripping a movie.
