whick lynux???
I have a IBM Intellistation Z Pro Model 6221, and would like to try Lynux, so which is best and easy for the beginner to use? I have dual processors Z Pro 3.02 Ghz, and want to put them to work, I am using 32 bit XP Pro right now.. thanks
i would suggest Xandros of Ubuntu for a begginner. what i have used on of linux i have used fedora, it was fairly easy for me to use, but i have heard that xandros and ubuntu are better for first time users.
I would start with Ubuntu, great distro and plenty of online support! Try the live-cd. Just burn it, pop it in and restart your computer and enjoy the bongos! It will not download, unless you hit the install icon on the display screen. There is nothing like "open-source, scripts, commands, ect...Best of all, it's free! Well, 99.9 percent of it!!!
Graphics kick ****! Once you get the hang of things, go ahead and run Compiz and Beryl both offer nice 3d effects. Compiz is the more stable one and Beryl has more plugins, cool effects.
Also, go onto linuxforums and start researching distro's for beginners! And if I were you, I would try learning how-to do a "dual-boot." Dual-boot just means two operating systems on one core, if you get sick of just running of the live-cd.. That way there you can choose which operating system you want to use during start-up, and still keep XP until you realize how gay "Microsucks is..."
Any questions, feel free to PM me or ask here!
Goodluck!
