Default Forum search engine neutered. Why?

This site has such a great wealth of knowledge completely unfindable due to the fact that the search engine will lop off important keywords it doesn't feel like searching for.

Here is my example. My truck is sticking in four wheel drive sometimes after I've shifted the selector stick back to the two wheel drive position after having been driven around in 4wd. It will eventually go back into 2wd if I stop put it in nuetral and jiggle the selector stick into 4wd and back into 2wd and try driving again. Sometimes it takes a couple times doing this for it to work.

Now I didn't come here asking for mechanical tech support for my truck but to complain about a search engine which I consider broken and see if there is a settings change or a moderator blessing I may have bestowed upon me which will allow me to succesfully run the search I come up with which I predict might give good hits for this problem.

For example two searches I tried were: "4wd sticking" and "4X4 sticking". In both cases the only thing the search engine actually chose to search for is the "sticking" portion yielding perhaps millions of hits with none related to my questions on the first three pages of hits...friggin ridiculous if you asked me. I don't know for sure that what I was searching for would have yielded the results I seek either but I sure would like to find out. If I was smart enough to come up with more technically correct searches for this problem then chances are I may not even need to be searching in the first place...just maybe. I'm just trying to use the tools I have in this case (not much at all really but driving symptoms) and this damn search engine wants to make my life difficult.

Can someone please tell me how to make the search engine search for what I would like to find rather than try and think for me, change my search, and completely blow the opportunity to be useful in the process?

Advice sought and appreciated. Thank you for listening to my rant.

Did you run the search with the quotes around it or did you add those here to indicate what you searched for? If you put it into the search box with the quotes it will force it to search for the entire phrase. I don't think the search engine can search for any words shorter than 4 letters/numbers, it is annoying sometimes.

searching on CAD or axle disconnect or axle engagement will give you better results than sticking.

not what you were here for, but your problem anyway..
your problem may be weak vac or stickiness in the CAD.
its common to have to top and back up to relieve tension on the collar for it to disconnect. there's just too much mechanical force holding it in place. its not a good system at all.

And try the advanced search if you haven't already.
