Default Crazy Cold Weather problem - 2010 Journey

My wife has a 2010 Journey which she, in spite of this problem, loves.

Here it is - in cold weather, by which I mean minus 5 celsius or colder, when she starts the car, the heater fan comes on high speed with the heat full blast. At the same time, none of the radio, back-up camera, GPS or climate controls work. Which means she can't turn the fan speed down or lower the temp. And all that gear is OEM.

The Dealer, while sympathetic, has been unable to find the cause, but they have seen the problem in action. They recently tried replacing the radio which did not solve this issue.

The only way to reset it is to disconnect and reconnect the battery. After doing that, the system is back to normal until left in cold weather for 5 or more hours.

This problem only happens in cold weather, the car and all systems run fine through the spring and summer months.

Any thoughts / suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks -

Sounds as if you have a cold solder joint or temp sensitive
connection in the controls system.
It could be as simple as undoing/reconnecting all the
electrical plugins associated with radio/comfort controls.
Cold solder joint is a little more difficult and requires
technical abilities.

Thanks bigtsr -

Wife brought it to the dealer again this morning because the radio and climate etc. are again not working. She asked them to look into your suggestions so hopefully they can crack this nut.
