Hello All,
I just joined this forum. Browsing through all of the posts and noted lots of knowledgeable members, I'm hoping someone can help me with my query:
I own a 2013 Dodge Journey Crew, it has 2000 km on it and for the past few weeks I have noticed that when on the highway, accelerates fine to a certain speed, when reaching speeds 90km/h+, accelerator pedal hard to press, when I press with a little bit of an added effort, end up depressing it too much and the RPMs shoot up and the car takes off. The accelerator pedal should be smooth, allowing for gradual acceleration, which the car has shown in the past. Is this normal? If not, what could be the issue. I look forward to a response, thank you in advance.

Sounds normal. These new 6 speed trans coupled with electronic throttle are quite sensitive to pedal input. And it is not just Dodge product, even if you go drive a Ford, Toyota, GM, Hyundai etc... with 6 speed trans, you would expect the same result.
If you drive a slightly older car with 4 speed trans, then you would experience the smooth gradual acceleration like older cars.

Possibly I am not comprehending your concern with
witht the gas pedal correctly,is it the smoothness
of acceleration or the physical pressure applied to
the actual pedal !!
The pedal is just a spring loaded variable resistor
for simplicities sake as it's fly by wire application,
possibly you have a defective assembly.
I find no difference in physical effort required at
any speed range in my DJ.
