Default 2013 Journey Rust on Door Hinge

Hi everyone,

About two days ago I noticed that one of the hinges on the driver's side door of my Journey is starting to rust. I called the dealership about that and the service advisor said "it happens". I am a bit concerned that it is happening so soon, considering I have had the vehicle just under 4 months. A few years ago I noticed that this happened on my 2007 Dodge Caliber and the door hinges eventually failed, so I am worried this may happen on my Journey. Shouldn't this be fixed under warranty or am I wrong?

Any advice or help you could give on this would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Keith

How about some pics? The door hinges are constantly wearing against each other and every car I've had has some form of rust on the hinges. If it is just surface rust, use a wire brish and scrape it away and maybe spray some clearcoat on it or keep it coated with a light oil. If it's bad enough to where it is eating the metal, bubbling the paint, you need to actually take it to the dealer and have them inspect it. A phone call is usually not good enough to get the response you are looking for from a dealer. Your warranty should cover rust.

Default 2040 Dodge Journey Door Hinges

Hello,

Its is Sept 18, 2013. I just purchased a 2010 Dodge Journey SE with 25 000km on it used. I have 9months left of my bumper to bumper warrenty.
I noticed the hinges are rusting on the driver side door. Is this normal?
Can I ask the Dealership to repair?

Thanks

Sweet.treats1,

Congratulations on your new Journey!

If you have any concerns review with the dealer to see if this is out of the ordinary. It may just be normal surface rust.

Please PM me if you have any questions and I'd be happy to help.
