Default 2013 Auto Locks Issue?

So I recently bought a 2013 Journey and I am curious about something. When I first bought it, the doors would automatically unlock when I got close to the door. Now it doesn't do it or it's intermittent. Not sure. Is there some sort of settings for this? I looked through the menus on the radio, but I didn't see anything. Any help would be appreciated.

Mine has never unlocked by getting close to the door,
have always had to physically touch (grip) the handle.
Anyway it's a '13 definitely a warranty question for dealer.

Like above...On my 2013, I physically have to touch the front door handle (doesn't work on the rear doors) to get the car to unlock (or the button on the liftgate). I've never had the car unlock itself on my approach; only by touch (and I'm really getting to like it; I wish my 2011 2500 Longhorn had that feature). Now, if I'm close to the car and my wife touches the handle it will unlock; maybe that's what is leading you to believe that it is unlocking on your approach? If the transmitter is within range, anyone can unlock the car by touching the handle, it doesn't have to be the person carrying the transmitter...

No it was definitely unlocking itself. I've walked up to it with my hands full and didn't touch the handle and it unlocked. Seems like you have to be really close though. Like standing right next to the door. Sometimes it takes longer than other times, so I don't know what the trick is. I'll have to do some research. I swear I'm not crazy...lol

While staying on the topic I was taken by surprise the first
time I hand washed my DJ , I was rinsing it off with the hose
from about 10 ft away with the fob in my pocket and everytime
I sprayed the driver/passenger handle it would either lock or unlock.
I guess the water stream was conducting the signal - anyone else
experience this?

Mine only unlocks if I touch the door.

There is a sensor in the rear of the door handle. Read your owners manual. I also have had the doors unlock by washing the vehicle when the fob was in my pocket. But it should not unlock unless you touch the handle, and you have to be with in 5 feet for it to work. Yes the passenger can unlock it as well....if you are in range of either door.

As a side to this subject for a while after I first got the DJ
I would mistakenly grip the whole handle while using the
button to lock the door and it would take 2 presses o the button
I now just touch the button only.

It was funny. I had read this post and had not had an issue like this with my 13 SXT. The other day was hosing it off in the driveway, and had the fob in my pocket and the thing unlocked with out touching it, just with the water stream. Was standing at the rear about 5 to 8 feet away, hosing the back door glass and POP! Saw it had unlocked and tried it again, same thing. Never seen this happen to any like that before now.

Just another thing to think about with regards to proximity
sensing passive entry system happened a few days ago.
I have started wearing my winter jacket as temps are down
at this time of year and I hang my jacket with the fob in it
in a closet which is adjacent to my garage, well went into the
garage to retrieve something I forgot in the DJ and in went into start
mode which means you could drive it out of the garage and it will
continue until you turn it off the first time.
Needless to say the fob now resides elsewhere at night.
