Thats really just a short ram intake, not a cold air intake, since it is sucking hot air from the engine compartment. But I know they sound good and give you a seat of the pants feel of power increase.

Hi jkeaton,

is there a disadvantage if it's sucking warm air from the compartment?

Well it's not "warm" air it's "hot" air and it produces
less horsepower.
Having said that the pros and cons of the whole exercise
amount to what you are trying to achieve , looks good and gives
you a feeling of more giddyup and go along with associated noise.

I'm not going to take the time to explain what is written and debated on a million times over on the internet and just about every automotive forum out there regarding the myth of CAI's. Just do some research on cold air intakes. Knowledge is power. Heck even on tbhis forum I bet there are hundreds of threads on the topic.

In my 2010 3.5L, I cut the snorkel off and it added about 2 mpg. No fancy filter or anything. Granted it's the warm compartment air, but it still helped.
