Coolant tank

Default Coolant tank

I have a 2009 dodge journey with 48000 miles. while I was driving I noticed a antifreeze smell upon inspection it is the reservoir tank leaking at the middle seam. My question is could it be the type of antifreeze Dodge uses? Should I drain the system and use another type?

Welcome to DF. That is a common problem with the plastic tanks. Replace the tank and stay with the recommended antifreeze.

I realize that this is a super old thread, but I'll give this a chance anyway. I have a 2011 Dodge Journey 2.7l SXT. The coolant tank has a crack in it and the plastic weld I applied doesn't seem to work. I am looking to buy a new tank, but where I live (Chile, South America) the only ones I am finding are for the 2.4l engine. Would this be compatible? Thanks for your time.
