Question 2010 Journey; disc player won't accept dvds

We have a 2010 Dodge Journey with a VES system. When we first purchased the vehicle in 2011 we tested out the dvd player, and it worked fine....but not having any children at the time we didn't use regularly.

Now we have a 2 year old who we're hoping to take on a LONG road trip, and when we went to test out the dvd player again we realized it's not working.....the disc drive won't even accept a dvd. It's like there's something stuck in there, but I know with absolute certainty that there are no cds or dvds in the player (it's a 6 disc changer).

So frustrating. Please let me know if you have any ideas!!!

Did you review the VES user manual for any troubleshooting ideas? Check the fuse for the DVD player which is cavity M10 & fuse 15 AMP blue.
