Default Add reverse cam & nav to 2011??

Hey guys,

So I just got myself a used dodge journey 2011 RT and was wondering if I could add a backup camera & nav to it.

I'll try and give you as many details about my journey as possible.

It has the 8.4 screen with satellite radio. I noticed that it already has a plastic cover where the backup cam would normally be and by popping it out with a flathead screwdriver, I noticed that it's attached to 2 grey wires (I'll add a photo soon). Does that mean my journey is already pre-wired and I could just buy a camera, plug it in and it would work right off the bat? If so, do you have any suggestions about where I could get one?

I would like to avoid having to bring it in to a dodge dealership because it's an hour away from where I live and I have two young kids.. if I could do this on my own it would be great. Otherwise, it's not that big of a deal, but I also know that they would charge me a ton of money.

I'm in canada.. not sure if that changes things.

Also, is there a way to find out if I have an 8.4A or 8.4N.. I heard that may change things as well.

Thanks in advance for any tips you can give me!!

The nav is actually part of the radio box itself
which is behind the bottom of the screen , there have been
reported failures of the nav function in which case FCA
changes that box.
You would have to purchase the box/radio/antenna and install.
Probably need it flashed at the dealer to enable it on CanBus.
As for the camera a pic of panel you looked at would help usually
cams are mounted at center above rear plate.

I am afraid you have mistaken the remote lock/open button
located on the hatch at least that is what it does on my '11 SXT.
If you have the key fob with you is operable.

ok I tried it and see what you mean. Could my car still be pre-wired? Otherwise, is it impossible for me to add a rear view cam?

Also, how about nav? If I find an RB5 and swap would that work?

The only pre-wired cables these days are the major bus/computer lines
that are backbone of car electronics.
If indeed you have a base 8.4 then it will work with some of the aftermarket
adapters for sale i.e. CoastalEtech/lockpick/Rax , google them.
The Mopar 8.4N from a scrapper will work but still require additional items
such as gps antenna and reflash at dealer , some of the newer version also
require security code input.
