Default Side mirror fall off (because of calcium maybe)????

Hello,

I own a 2011 Journey R/T. Recently our front driver mirror fell off without hitting anything. When I got home I inspected the mirror and seems like there was a lot of white powder (calcium I think) stuck inside. There is also a lot of calcium under the plastic moulding on that holds the mirror. I removed the powder as much as I could with my air compressor tool. Seems like it doesn't clip in place anymore cause of the plastic is like corroded. So now it holds with a beautiful tie-wrap. And for sure, now its out of warranty.

Did that happened to anybody else???

Thanks

Dan

Default

You must live in an area with high winter salt usage.
Likely the coupling was damaged by freezing , the mirror
assy comes of with 2-3 screws , maybe a recycled one
from a scrap yard would be the cheapest/easiest fix.
First time I have seen this happen.
