Default 2009 Transmission

I'll start by saying, I don't know anything. I had a mechanic and he just bailed so apparently I'm stuck figuring this out on my own. You guys seem extremely knowledgeable and hopefully kind enough to help a lady out.

(I don't know if any or all of these issues are related)

My trouble started with my ABS, ESC and traction control lights came on while attempting to stop at a red light. My brakes didn't work for about 10 secs. The lights went off and all was well. A month later it does it again. 10 secs and back to normal. Although, this time, in the same week, my car wouldn't start when I turned the key. It took 10 tries and finally it started.

Then the transmission started shifting hard from 2nd to 3rd but no problems when I pit it in manual mode.

I was told to have the fluid changed. No help. It got worse and wouldn't go over 35-40. Of course the check engine light is on so I get it tested. I can't remember the code, but I was told it meant the Over Drive Solenoid needed replaced.

This is when I hired the mechanic. He replaced the kickdown solenoid. It worked for all of 5 mins. He said to try again so we did. I'll mention he was adding fluid each time. After the 2nd kickdown was put on my car stopped moving except in reverse. Reverse is perfect. It has no problems shifting into the other gears, it just acts like the emergency brake is on (it's not) and won't move forward.

He now puts the original part back on and no change. He says I need a new transmission and quits.

Please tell me I don't need a new transmission and it can be solved by getting a new battery or tilting my head slightly to the left when I drive.

dealers use a transmission simulator to diagnose this fault. this tool will rule out the pcm and wiring. I am not familiar enough with this trans to diagnose without it
