Wheel bearing sounds - not a wheel bearing
I have a 2012 dodge journey sxt - it has the 3.6L engine and it's front wheel drive.
I have a buzzing noise that's diagnostic of a left side wheel bearing - it increases in volume with speed and when weight is put on the left side the noise gets louder.
Here's where my problem is - I replaced both wheel bearings on the left side of the vehicle in the last 2 weeks. The noise got quieter with each wheel bearing and we did the front brakes and rotors at the same time.
The buzzing sound is still there with the same diagnostic - it gets louder with speed, starting around 40km an hour, it gets louder when weight is put on the left side and quieter when weight is put on the right.
Our next best guess is that it's the interior joint on the CV shaft but I don't want to throw more parts at it without a solution in mind.
Has anyone else run into this? Any suggestions on what it might be?
