Angry 2013 journey battery dead

Im having the same exact issue with my 2013 journey. every year im having ti replace the battery, but here in last year i have had to replace battery more freq. the dealership cant find anything wrong with the battery but says other things need replacing. I just had to replace the trans bc they said it was bad than couple months they said oh well now its your fly wheel its busted and replaced the battery again feb 2020. its may and my car has been sitting at dealership for a week now with a dead battery. They are now saying in order for them to run any tests i need to replace the start for $700. im just tired of this issue and no one knowing what is actually causing it.

I started this chain with my 2012 Journey. In last 2 years I have had 8 batteries, HVAC module replaced, Hands-free module replaced., and 3 alternators. Still dead battery problem persisted. Fortunately, my schedule had me driving almost every day, so dead battery was not as frequent. But key was last December I noticed the headlights were flickering at idle. That's key. These cars do not have a voltage regulator. The ECM module tells the alternator when to turn on and off, keeping the battery charged. But mine was turning my alternator on and off every few seconds. Dealer re-flashed the ECM, but problem persisted. I was quoted $800 + by dealer to replace ECM. Instead I found one online for, $200-they downloaded latest software package based on my VIN #, and sent it to me. Had local auto electric shop install it for $60. That was January-no problems since, And car sometimes sets (thanks to the pandemic) for several weeks at at time.

Try this: start the car and turn on the headlights. If they are flickering, that's because your ECM is telling the alternator to turn on and off, causing the flicker. If so, replace your ECM and problem should be solved.

Has there been any "cure" for this issue? I have a 2018 Dodge Journey Crossroad and I just replaced the battery, and it is dead.... I am taking it in, but from what I have read, there doesn't seem to be a consensus on the issue.

A final message. Replaced ECM in January, no problems since. I’m a senior and don’t drive a lot, so car sometimes sets for a week or more. Starts every time now, so must consider my trials are over HOORAY!
