Just bought a 2019 Journey a couple weeks ago, base model with the blacktop package for what it's worth, and the 3.6L V6 engine.
I was installing a trailer hitch a few days ago and discovered that on the driver's side there was a wiring harness/plug attached to the metal bumper frame in the way of where the hitch mounts. There was a barcode sticker on it with the code Z03661790. I called the dealer where I bought the car and talked to the parts department, hoping to find out what it was for. Initially I was worried it was some kind of airbag sensor and afraid if I messed with it, I'd have big problems. I described it to the parts guy, he looked up my specific vehicle and had no idea what it was.
After pondering it for a while, I realized it was immediately behind the little tow hook pop-off door on the bumper, so I removed that little door and worked at it with a screwdriver until it popped out of the bumper frame. It turns out it is a dead-end plug. As in, it is a wiring connector with a plug in it where seemingly another harness of some sort could plug into it and snap into place. I think there were 6 to 8 wires in it. I should have counted.
I got a couple pictures as best I could but it wasn't an easy area to get into for a photo.
Does anyone have any idea what it is for? Once I installed the hitch, I moved the harness up next to the rest of the wiring and wrapped it with electrical tape, since I couldn't put it back exactly where it was due to the hitch covering the little hole where it mounted.
