Default 2010 journey dead battery fixed

So the car seems to be fixed but I've had so many issues diagnosing this. Brought it to several dodge dealers and many mechanics. On everyone's advise I was told to replace the battery... 3 times. For what ever reason the thing just randomly wont start due to a dead battery. Alt tests fine every time, parasitic losses were in spec for alarm and blue tooth. No codes to read. been this way for 2 years now. Before this i loved the car. Long story short even though the alt passed inspection more than 20 times i replaced it and presto cars fixed. Turned out i had an intermittent diode failure. Not just any diode. Apparently the diode that failed would cause an over charger situation and the computer would tell the alt to stop charging. But it was intermittent and could happen many times while driving leaving my wife with a dead battery in the morning. Oddly the battery was just above 10.5v which is where the engine light would be tripped. But if you know anything about lead acid batteries, once depleted they have no problem dissipating what ever charge is left on there own. So it turns out to be a diode in the alternator. Even if the alt tests fine dont trust it. This may not be the fix for everything but I was ready to blame the computer because every time I tested the alt it tested fine. Now that this seems to be resolved I plan on keeping it. I love the car and up till recently it gave me no issues. Lesson learned I still dont trust it so I'm testing the battery every time she gets driven till I can prove that it's fixed. I dont go out of my way to throw piles of money at the problem 115 bucks for a reman and a whole pile of time. Up next is the timing belt and water pump. 235k so I'm pretty sure it needs it.

Thanks for posting this. Dead batteries are such a common occurrence with these cars. I must have been lucky, never had that issue with either of our Journeys.
