HELP - 2015 Journey - P0305
My wife's 2015 Dodge Journey SXT - 3.6L Pentastar. 138,xxx miles.
Background - December 2019 the service engine soon light comes on, rough idle. Take it to shop I always have taken it to, code reads P0305, cylinder 5 misfire. Shop replaces fuel injector, (3) ignition coils, (6) spark plugs, and intake mainfold set. Mopar parts, 24 months parts & labor.
3/1/2021 I take the car in for an oil change to the same shop. Their inspection recommends replacing a cracked oil cooler adapter housing ($984.35) - say they are on backorder and can't even replace right now. Direct fuel injector cleaning ($143.00), engine drive belt replacement (cracked - $122.42), and replace battery ($322.99). The only item I had them take care of was the engine belt replacement.
3/11/2021 wife sends me a video of the car running with a noticeable tick on passenger side of engine. Take it back to the shop, they say it's due to the oil cooler adapter housing, and even if I replace the housing it may still tick because that's what these engines do at this mileage.
This past weekend, wife driving car and service engine soon light comes on. I plug in my OBD2 scanner I bought, same P0305 code. I called the shop due to the 24 month warranty, and they said they can look at it tomorrow, but that there's a chance it's throwing the code because of the cracked oil cooler adapter housing. So I'm already expecting them to not warranty the isuse. Any thoughts / ideas / things I should be aware of prior to bringing it in tomorrow?
Sorry for the long post, and thank you.
