Dodge Journey, battery issue
Have got a Dodge Journey with a mysterious power draw or no charge from alternator.
so a little scenario, most mornings the dodge will need to be jump started. As the battery is completely dead.
have had it die while driving a few times. Scary ****
weve been drying to diagnose the issue, going from a new battery replacement (was fine for a little while) to a completely refurbished alternator.
reason for rebuilding the alternator. I have a HUD running from the OBDII port. It provides a current real time reading of the voltage. It’s reading usually between 14.0V to 14.3V
mechanic assumed this was too high. So took out the alternator, opened it up replaced parts (they were physically worn out)
after this the car ran fine for a few days… but we’re back to square one. My country’s in lockdown at the movement. So can’t get it looked at.
does anyone know what could be causing the issue? Is it a power drain when the car is sleeping… is it the battery that is not getting charged when driven.
I’ve ready about current draw with the radio, Bluetooth electronics. Will try to disconnect the fuses there. Will also attempt a leach test for any power draw.
many help or advice will be greatly appreciated

Forgot to mention that the voltage reading was around the 14.0-14.3 mark before the alternator refers and after. There was a few times where the voltage will sit around 13.7-13.8 (after alternator referb) but has since gone back to over 14V
Hey Mark,
I had the same issue with my 2014 3.6L SXT. If the vehicle sat for a couple days, the battery was dead. Got stuck in the airport parking lot several times.
Battery was replaced, same problem. Took it to the dealer who diagnosed it as a bad battery. Replaced the new battery, still same problem. I now turn the audio system off before shutting the engine off and I have not had the problem since.
Also, my hands-free bluetooth quit working before I started having the battery issue. Not sure if they are related, but this Journey has been such a POS I would not be surprised.
