Journey Door Locks Issue
Due to Covid my 2016 Journey sat unused for 4-5 weeks. By that time the battery did not have the power to start, so I charged it. I found that the remote key, the driver's door handle, and the driver's door button would routinely fail to unlock the doors. At first it was sporadic, then it became more frequent, and now I cannot unlock the passenger door, rear doors, or rear hatch. I can unlock the passenger door by the inside handle, and I can force up the lock on the inside of the rear doors, and they will all lock as soon as I hit the button, but they will not unlock. I can hear power hitting the mechanisms, but they don't unlock. I have removed the fuse in an attempt to reset the locks, but it had no effect. On the internet this seems to be a frequent issue with Journeys. Does anyone have any working resolutions?

Each door has a control locking mechanism and since no door will unlock with Mod or panel button I would start with the first one in drivers door it is not sending signal to the other doors! As for the trunk if u need to temporarily gain access without buttons working it is no easy task but there is a little cover on inside back hatch center bottom if you pop it you will see a white plastic bolt turn that and your hatch will be unlocked; however when doors get locked you will have to repeat this for entry continuously so what I did was pull the little power wire that feeds the control module and it doesn’t lock on its own however securing you vehicle will not be possible but engage the system alarm and it will trigger when hatch is opened without mod
Thank you "crystalove" for the suggestions. I will be sure to keep them for future reference. My issue has resolved and someone had given a clue, that the battery amperage being low could cause the door locks to fail when unlocking. I noted that the battery had gotten a low charge do to not being driven for a month. At first only the driver's door unlocked, and then the other doors started to unlock, but they were not reliable. After a couple of weeks of driving the locks were working after several tries, but after a month they were back to normal. I am surprised that the locks are so sensitive to battery amperage, but relieved to know how to work it out if it should ever happen again. Thanks to those who commented!
